DESIGNS BY DONNA CARTY

Donna Carty’s creative talents were nurtured from the age of five, when she sewed doll clothes from napkins and her parents bought her a small sewing machine.  Design – fashion, home interiors, needlepoint, and knitting – has been a life long hobby while she pursued a successful business career.  

She took her first bead design course in 1996 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA, where she was working. Recognizing her skill, her teacher sponsored Donna’s membership in Bead Designers International where she was introduced to bead crochet, a technique she mastered and evolved to a unique art form with her Starry Nights Collection. 

Donna currently works from her home studio in Naples, Florida, where she also runs a management consulting business.  In 2009, actress Sharon Stone promoted and auctioned a Starry Nights necklace at the ART for ACT gala.  In August 2007 and 2008, the Starry Nights Collection won Finalist Awards in the N Media Group’s Annual ENNY Awards.
